We'll explain our tuition policy, performance policy, class rules and more.  Please read before you register.

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • Only students registered for the class will be allowed in the class room during class times. 
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that students arrive for class at the appropriate time & dressed in approved attire.
  • We ask that parents please bring their child to the bathroom before every class.
  • Our classes are run 45 minutes to an hour long and we do not want anyone missing out on valuable techniques or learning routines.
  • At certain events only children who are registered students will be allowed.
  • Every class needs a volunteer class mom.  If you are interested please get with us ASAP.
  • Your child’s success in dancing depends greatly on you the parents

Tuition Policies

1.       The cost for tuition is based on a full dance year, which includes the months of September through May.

2.       Tuition is not based on when classes start or how many classes are scheduled for any month. Tuition is to cover 30 instructional classes to take place between September and May.

3.       Tuition covers ONLY the classes that are to meet through the dance year, holidays are not included in the “class count”, therefore there are no “make up” classes or tuition reduction for holidays as you are not charged for holidays. 

4.       While you are paying for 30 instructional classes there are actually more than 30 class days scheduled during September through May.  In the unlikely event of a cancelled class (ex. bad weather) Art of Dance will only be required to give a make up class if the total number of class days falls below 30.

5.       Also be aware at this time students who choose to perform with their class for recitals, performances or events are not charge for the scheduled instructional rehearsals. These rehearsals are provided free of charge by Art of Dance to strengthen each student’s confidence level and to insure structure for students when dancing in front of an audience.

6.       For your convenience, we have created a fee schedule that allows for monthly payments, semester payments or yearly payments for dance tuition.  

§         Yearly payments: The price per class is multiplied by the number of classes you are scheduled to have in a dance year.

§         Semester payments: The yearly payment amount is divided into two equal payments. These payments are due on the first class in September and the first class in January.

§         Monthly payments: The yearly payment is divided into 9 equal due on the first class of each month.

7.       A $5.00 late fee will be assessed on all unpaid monthly payment accounts after the first class of each month. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed on all unpaid semester payment accounts.

8.       Payments must be in the form of a money order on check made payable to "ART OF DANCE SCHOOL".
9.  No cash will be accepted. Your check or money order stub is your receipt.

10.   TO INSURE PROPER CREDIT, PLEASE INDICATE ON YOUR CHECK or MONEY ORDER WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR AND YOUR CHILD’S NAME. 

11.   Art of Dance cannot allow students to continue in class if fees are not kept current.  All late fees will be strictly enforced and students will be dismissed from class and removed from the role if a payment is not made by the third class. All fees unpaid after 30 days are turned over to a collections agency at the customer’s expense.

12.   In addition to the $5.00 late fee, a $10.00 handling fee will be added to all accounts that are 30 past due.

13.   There is a $25.00 charge on all returned checks.  This policy will be strictly enforced!

14.   There are NO REFUNDS on registration fees, recital fees, costume orders or class fees. No exceptions.

ABSENCES

  • It is strongly encouraged not to miss any classes especially right before revue time. 
  • We do give out awards at the revue for perfect attendance.
  • Excessive absences may lead to a student not being allowed to participate in performance and other activates.
  • Please notify your instructor of any scheduled or unscheduled absences.

 MAKE UP CLASSES

  • If you miss a class and wish to make it up you must have a doctor’s excuse or have given proper notice.
  • Please talk with your instructor before or after class to schedule a make up class. 
  • Make up classes are left to instructors discretion and will cost $20.00 for each class for each student in the class.

TARDINESS

  • If you are late for a class please be quiet coming in as so not to disturb the class.
  • Put on the proper shoes and join in as quickly as possible.
  • If tardiness becomes a problem conference will be needed with both the student and parent.
  • Three tardies or more in one month will be counted as one absence.

PERSONAL HYGIENE

  • We will be working out; dancing and sweating in every class so please remember to wear deodorant.
  • Ladies legs and underarms need to be shaved. 

HOLIDAYS & BAD WEATHER

  • We follow the Lafayette Public Schools holiday and bad weather schedule.
  •  When there is no school because of Holidays or bad weather then there is no dancing class. 
  • Classes cancelled for bad weather they will be made up if the total of class days falls below 30.
  • There are occasions when Art of Dance continues to hold classes even during holidays. Parents and Students will be notified.

EXIT POLICY

  • Student’s parent or guardian must complete and turn in Art of Dance exit form.
  • Take affect on the last class of the current month.
  • Tuition and fees already paid to Art of Dance are forfeited and non refundable.
  • Failure to complete and or turn in the exit form as specified will result in tuition fees billed for one more month, including late fees.
  • All money owed to the school at the time of exit is due.
  • Any money owed to the school 30 days after submitting an exit form or by no attendance of a student in 30 days will be turned over to a collection agency at the customer's expense. 

DRESS CODE

  • All classes will be required to ware a leotard of their class color and tan tights. 
  • Tumbling classes must ware suntan footless or convertible tights.
  • Hip hop and Jazz classes will be required to ware leotard of class color, tan tights, black stretch dance pant may be worn over tights.
  • Tap classes must wear leotard of class color and tan tights.
  • Ballet classes must ware leotard of class color and tan tights.
  • Removable black or class color ballet skirts are allowed only during the ballet portion of any class.
  • Only school shirt of the class color may be worn during class.
  • Upon arriving and leaving the premises dance are strongly encouraged to ware t-shirt or some sort of clothing over their leotards.
  •  During winter months leg warmers are allowed.
  • Male dancers can wear school shirt of class color with black biker shorts or black warm up pants.   
  • Hair must be pulled out of the face.
  •  A low bun or pig tales are suggested for the tumbling classes.

 DANCE SHOES

  • Tap class: black taps. NO bow ties, black elastic or black tap ties only.  
  • Ballet class: Pink ballets – elastic “bunny ears” must be tucked in to the toe of the shoe or cut off.
  • Hip Hop:  Black dance sneakers
  • Tumbling: Barefoot

  PROCEDURE FOR ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL OF CLASSES

  • Parents must sign in students at the  beginning of class
  • Parents must sign out students at the time of dismissal   
  • Students are not allowed in the classroom before their class time
  • Students must be accompanied by their parent or guardian when they are on the premises and not in class.
  • Parents may leave the premises during class time to go run errands etc; however, parents must notify the instructor.
  • Parents arriving more than 15 min late to pick up their child with out making arrangements with an instructor WILL be charged $5.00 payable to the instructor that has to wait with the student.

FOOD AND DRINKS

  • Water ONLY allowed in class room and it must be in a spill proof sports bottle. 
  • Students can only get water during a "water break" 
  • There is to be no food brought to class. 
  • No gum chewing in class.

BEHAVIOR & DISCIPLINE

  • Dancers are expected to treat everyone with respect. 
  • Students are to address all instructors and employees with Ms. or Mr.
  • There is to be no horse playing during, before or after class. 
  • Name-calling is strictly forbidden. 
  • Dancers who fight in class will be asked to leave for the remainder of class. This will count as an absence that can not be made up.
  • If there is a problem between dancers please let a staff member know ASAP.
  • Dancers who continually misbehave may be written up and or told to sit in “time out” for 5 to 10 mins; this is left up to instructor’s discretion.
  • If a student’s behavior becomes to extreme or a constant problem the student WILL be dismissed from Art of Dance and any and all tuition and any other fee already paid are NON REFUNDABLE

Recitals, performances and events:
We feel it is a great motivator and self-esteem builder for our dancers.  It teaches that hard work is appreciated and goals are achieved through performing. 
We have some very strict rules regarding rehearsals and recitals. We ask that you carefully follow our plan in order to help us keep participants properly disciplined and safe.

Performing is a privilege and should be respected

  •  All recital rehearsals are required, not optional 
  •  Art of Dance also reserves the right to not allow a student to participate based many factors that include but are not limited to behavior in class, attendance, attitude towards instructors, staff and other students.
  • Students on probation may not be eligible to attend.
  •  Please read more about probation and conduct in the student hand book.
  • All monthly tuition must have a “0” balance at the time of any event 
  • Any fees if applicable  must be paid in full by their due date. 

 Christmas Performance:

  • At the end of  semester one, we put on a small recital to show what our students have accomplished so far. 
  • All dancers will be in at least one routine for each class they are in.  
  • This performance usually takes place at Acadiana Village during "Noel Acadien au Village" but may take palce at the studio.
  • Christmas Performance Fee  ranges $15 - $50 per student.

End of the year recital:   

  • Our dance year comes to an end with a celebration and a recital to be held near the end of May beginning of June.  We use our recital to showcase the year’s work. This performance is designed to show our student’s hard work and accomplishments. 
  • Participation in the end of the year recitals is MANDATORY For all students.
  • End of the Year Recital Fee range from $40 to $100.
  • Costume Fees averages from $50 to $200 (one factor in cost is number of dance style / classes your child is in.)
  • All dancers must sell at least $50.00 in ads for the recital program in order to perform in the end of the year recital
  • All students will get a participation award on stage. 
  • Art of Dance will also present other achievement awards when deserved.  Examples of these awards are: Most improved, Hardest Worker, Star Dancers, and Perfect attendance. 
  • Dance years awards are also given to those dancers completing their: 3rd, 5th, 7th 10th year of dance.
  • Picture day is mandatory for all participants in the end of the year recital.

Specials: Solos/Duos/Trios

  •  Solo fee $100.
  • Duo or trio is $50 per participant. 
  • An additional costume expense will be necessary for the routine
  • Solos/duos/ trios lessons start no earlier than 3 ½ months before a performance but not within one month of a performance
  • Duos/Trios: Students must be at least 7 years in age and have 2 years in dance 
  • Solos: Studenst must be at least 12 Years in age and have 5 years in dance
  • Solos duos and trios get 6 to 8 lessons (30 min to one hour each) of scheduled over the period of about 2 months.
  • The lessons include learning the material and cleaning the routine.
  • After the lessons are over student is expected to continue to rehearse on their own until recital rehearsals begin and they will be scheduled for rehearsals, but not additional classes. 
  •  Be sure your child is mature enough to handle this responsibility before committing to a solo/duo or trio.
  •  If it becomes necessary for the teacher to conduct extra rehearsals because the student has forgotten their routine then private lesson charges will be applied for the extra rehearsals.

Parade(s): 

Art of Dance usually participates in at least one parade a year.  Student participation is optional for those dancers who are eligible to attend.  There is a parade fee of $20 – $40 to cover cost of parade entry fees, rental of a flat bed “float” and parade shirts / attire. There are two areas of participation during a parade.  We will have “float” riders that is open to all dancers.

Art of Dancer Instructors will invite certain students to march and performer during the parade. “Step Above Dancers” will also be required to participle in this area.

The class mom will need to attend and participate at this event.  No other parents or sibling will be allowed to ride or walk in the parade.  

Performing students will have one to two scheduled practices that will be mandatory for participation.  These extra practices will usually be held at the Comeaux center on Saturdays.

 

Special Performances and or routines:

Art of Dance from time to time may perform routines at community events and usually have at least one special routine in the end of the year performance (usually the opening).  Art of Dancer Instructors will give the option to certain students to take part in these routines. “Step Above Dancers” will also be required to participle in these routines.  

Art of Dance may or may not also hold auditions for students to try out for special routines.

To all students who accept the invitation to participate: scheduled practices  ARE mandatory for participation.  There will costume cost for these events and or routines.  There may also be additional fees for certain community events

A Step Above Dancers:

This is a dance team that may perform special routines at community events as well as Art of Dance events and recitals.   However there are certain rules and regulations to become part of the team and to stay in the team.

We will from time to time have open auditions for any student or non student to try out for the team.

Instructors can also invite a student to be on the team or suggest them to try out in a closed audition.

Once a student has been selected through audition or invitation he or she must choose if they want to accept the responsibility of being on the team.  If a dancers chooses not to be on the team they still may be eligible to participate at certain events or in certain routines. This option may require you to pay event fees.

The A Step Above dancers will have mandatory practice though out the year. 
If a student is placed on probation they will not be allowed to perform with the team during the probation period.

There is a non refundable fee for dance team members. $100.00 per year or $15.00 per month.

Performing is a privilege and should be respected

  •  All recital rehearsals are required, not optional 
  •  Art of Dance also reserves the right to not allow a student to participate based many factors that include but are not limited to behavior in class, attendance, attitude towards instructors, staff and other students.
  • Students on probation may not be eligible to attend.
  •  Please read more about probation and conduct in the student hand book.
  • All monthly tuition must have a “0” balance at the time of any event 
  • Any fees if applicable  must be paid in full by their due date. 

 Christmas Performance:

  • At the end of  semester one, we put on a small recital to show what our students have accomplished so far. 
  • All dancers will be in at least one routine for each class they are in.  
  • This performance usually takes place at Acadiana Village during "Noel Acadien au Village" but may take palce at the studio.
  • Christmas Performance Fee  ranges $15 - $50 per student.

End of the year recital:   

  • Our dance year comes to an end with a celebration and a recital to be held near the end of May beginning of June.  We use our recital to showcase the year’s work. This performance is designed to show our student’s hard work and accomplishments. 
  • Participation in the end of the year recitals is MANDATORY For all students.
  • End of the Year Recital Fee range from $40 to $100.
  • Costume Fees averages from $50 to $200 (one factor in cost is number of dance style / classes your child is in.)
  • All dancers must sell at least $50.00 in ads for the recital program in order to perform in the end of the year recital
  • All students will get a participation award on stage. 
  • Art of Dance will also present other achievement awards when deserved.  Examples of these awards are: Most improved, Hardest Worker, Star Dancers, and Perfect attendance. 
  • Dance years awards are also given to those dancers completing their: 3rd, 5th, 7th 10th year of dance.
  • Picture day is mandatory for all participants in the end of the year recital.

Specials: Solos/Duos/Trios

  •  Solo fee $100.
  • Duo or trio is $50 per participant. 
  • An additional costume expense will be necessary for the routine
  • Solos/duos/ trios lessons start no earlier than 3 ½ months before a performance but not within one month of a performance
  • Duos/Trios: Students must be at least 7 years in age and have 2 years in dance 
  • Solos: Studenst must be at least 12 Years in age and have 5 years in dance
  • Solos duos and trios get 6 to 8 lessons (30 min to one hour each) of scheduled over the period of about 2 months.
  • The lessons include learning the material and cleaning the routine.
  • After the lessons are over student is expected to continue to rehearse on their own until recital rehearsals begin and they will be scheduled for rehearsals, but not additional classes. 
  •  Be sure your child is mature enough to handle this responsibility before committing to a solo/duo or trio.
  •  If it becomes necessary for the teacher to conduct extra rehearsals because the student has forgotten their routine then private lesson charges will be applied for the extra rehearsals.

Parade(s): 

Art of Dance usually participates in at least one parade a year.  Student participation is optional for those dancers who are eligible to attend.  There is a parade fee of $20 – $40 to cover cost of parade entry fees, rental of a flat bed “float” and parade shirts / attire. There are two areas of participation during a parade.  We will have “float” riders that is open to all dancers.

Art of Dancer Instructors will invite certain students to march and performer during the parade. “Step Above Dancers” will also be required to participle in this area.

The class mom will need to attend and participate at this event.  No other parents or sibling will be allowed to ride or walk in the parade.  

Performing students will have one to two scheduled practices that will be mandatory for participation.  These extra practices will usually be held at the Comeaux center on Saturdays.

 

Special Performances and or routines:

Art of Dance from time to time may perform routines at community events and usually have at least one special routine in the end of the year performance (usually the opening).  Art of Dancer Instructors will give the option to certain students to take part in these routines. “Step Above Dancers” will also be required to participle in these routines.  

Art of Dance may or may not also hold auditions for students to try out for special routines.

To all students who accept the invitation to participate: scheduled practices  ARE mandatory for participation.  There will costume cost for these events and or routines.  There may also be additional fees for certain community events

A Step Above Dancers:

This is a dance team that may perform special routines at community events as well as Art of Dance events and recitals.   However there are certain rules and regulations to become part of the team and to stay in the team.

We will from time to time have open auditions for any student or non student to try out for the team.

Instructors can also invite a student to be on the team or suggest them to try out in a closed audition.

Once a student has been selected through audition or invitation he or she must choose if they want to accept the responsibility of being on the team.  If a dancers chooses not to be on the team they still may be eligible to participate at certain events or in certain routines. This option may require you to pay event fees.

The A Step Above dancers will have mandatory practice though out the year. 
If a student is placed on probation they will not be allowed to perform with the team during the probation period.

There is a non refundable fee for dance team members. $100.00 per year or $15.00 per month.
